Grand National Festival Races

aintree stand and parade ring grand national festivalThe Grand National race on the Saturday takes all of the headlines but the Grand National itself is part of a three day Festival with a full card of jump races on the Thursday (Ladies Day) and Friday (Liverpool Day) as well as the big day itself.

If you are attending the Festival or you just want to get involved with more of the races before the Grand National itself then below you can find information on all the other 20 races that take place at Aintree in April.

The Grand National itself is a Grade 3 handicap race, it is the richest Grade 3 handicap race in the world, but in and of itself it is a race for older stayers.  There are, in fact, also eleven Grade 1 races at the Festival, two Grade 2 races and five Grade 3 races in addition to the GN itself.  Therefore, the other races at Aintree are hardly filler races before the big event, they are some of the biggest and best races on the jump racing calendar.
