A Tragic End
Although not an official casualty of the Grand National that year, he would die just a few days after the race. There is a lot of uncertainty around his death, initially he was pulled up after the final fence due to exhaustion. After struggling post-race there was signs of recover, though his condition would again deteriorate, and he passed away three days later.
A post mortem took place on the horse, revealing he died due to pleuropneumonia, which is a severe bacterial lung infection, which eventually turned into sepsis.
He made a bold showing in the race, and was leading with three fences to go, but ultimately ran out of steam near the end.
When coming across to Britain he made an immediate impact, winning back to back races at Haydock in December 2021. From then on, he was pushed up the grades, and was running in competitive races, but always showing up well, consistency and an always trying mentality was part of the reason why many people liked this horse.
His racing career would end with nine wins and seven placed efforts from a total of 30 starts, an excellent and very consistent career from this horse.
As with many horses who pass away during or after the Grand National, there was a lot of talk in the aftermath about this horse, and his death. A strong and resilient runner, who put up some very consistent showings during his career in both the UK and Ireland.
