Duffle Coat Grand National Wins
Duffle Coat has never won the Grand National.
They have never finished the race.

An Irish gelding, who was foaled in 2017, Duffle Coat, had a strong racing career, running in a number of races while being trained by Gordon Elliott.
He would eventually make his debut in the Grand National in 2025. However, that didn’t last too long. After sneaking in at the bottom of the weights, he would be the first horse to leave the race, and unseat his rider at the 3rd fence.

Race History
The horse would be trained in Ireland, but it was actually UK racing where he made his mark. Sent across by Gordon Elliott, he would win a Listed juvenile hurdle at Wetherby before winning a Grade Two at Cheltenham, showing him to be one of the better juveniles of that particular crop.
Further hurdle racing and the start of his chasing career proved to be a mixed bag, but he began to come to life again in 2024.
The Listed Mayo National at Ballinrobe was the next of his good wins, coming in May 2024, while he followed up with perhaps an even better run, finishing second in the Galway Plate, one of the biggest summer jumps races.
Staying distances came into the agenda for 2025, and it was the Grand National at Aintree that was at the centre of it all. Before that, he ran in the National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, but he was brought down when two fences from home.
That wasn’t the best setup for Aintree, as proved by the fact he unseated his rider 3 fences in, but he still went there.
