Eremon Grand National Wins
- 1907 - ridden by Alfred Newey trained by Tom Coulthwaite
Eremon would run in the Grand National just once, and would be successful in the race, one attempt and one win. There is nothing in the record book to say why we never saw him again in the race.
Trained by Tom Coulthwaite and ridden by Alf Newey, the horse would come out on top and record a winning distance of eight lengths, doing it in very impressive fashion.
Despite no Aintree experience, the horse was sent off at just 8/1 in the 23 strong field, showing that punters clearly thought he had a chance, and he certainly didn’t disappoint those who supported him with their money.
Conditions were soft and that caused problems for a few, but not for Eremon, who relished them, and would jump well in them and perhaps more importantly, keep out of trouble while the rest struggled.
As they began to tire, Eremon was full of running, moving to the front and not only that, he would then pull clear of the field to record his win.
It was the only success in the race for the horse, trainer and jockey, the latter two had plenty more chances, but we would never see Eremon in the race again.
