Father O'Flynn Grand National Wins
- 1892 - ridden by Capt Roddy Owen trained by Gordon Wilson

The winner of the 1892 Grand National was Father O’Flynn, a horse who spent plenty of time trying to win the Grand National during his career.
He would have a total of five attempts in the race, but it was his first and last where he was at his best. The first of them was the win in 1892. This isn’t usually the case, but going to Aintree with no experience didn’t bother the horse, and he didn’t just win, but won in style.
He would come away from the field to win the race by 20 lengths, and when you look at the placed runners, you have to say this was a very strong Grand National. In second was Cloister, a horse who would win the Grand National in 1893 by 40 lengths, while 1890 winner Ilex would finish third.
Not amongst the leading favourites, which is no surprise, he would make steady progress through the field and always looked to be a horse in with a chance. In the latter stages, he took the lead and didn’t stop, stretching away from the field behind him to land his comfortable 20-length win.
A year later, the horse would be back to try and defend his crown, but with over a stone more of weight on his back, this was a tough task, and he would eventually finish in sixth position.
A fall and a seventh-place effort came next, but there was plenty to like about the last run of his career, which came in 1896. He would finish second in this one, going down by only one and a half lengths.
This strong effort would be his last in the race, rounding off a good effort and leaving the horse with one win and one second-place effort from five starts in total.
