Fiddlerontheroof Grand National Wins
Fiddlerontheroof has never won the Grand National.
Their best finish to date was in 2022 where they came 5th. They were ridden by Brendan Powell Jnr and trained by Colin Tizzard.
Fiddlerontheroof has grown into a staying chaser over the years, displaying an excellent level of staying power, as well as having enough class to take him to the big courses and races on the calendar.
Trained originally by Colin Tizzard, this horse stayed with the yard when Joe Tizzard, son of Colin, took over the training program. Foaled in 2014, the horse won a Grade One race at just six, making him one of the most exciting horses in training at the time.

Fiddlerontheroof’s Early Years
Before joining the Tizzard team, Fiddlerontheroof began his career running in Ireland. First up, he ran in a couple of point-to-point races and was unable to win, but in the second of those, he was behind the incredibly talented Monkfish, trained by Willie Mullins.
He ran in national hunt flat races, running in three and gradually getting better, finishing third, second, and finally getting a win under his belt. That came in a strong Navan flat race, and here he was bought and sent across to the Tizzard team.
He started over hurdles with them, finished second in a Grade Two on stable debut, before another second, then he went on to win two races in a row. The second of those was his Grade One Tolworth Hurdle victory, which set him up for a Cheltenham Festival appearance, though he could only finish 11th of 15 runners.
After that season over hurdles, Fiddlerontheroof was sent chasing, and this would always be his strength. However, he couldn’t really hit the heights that many believed he would, and although he’s been racing in some of the very biggest races, in terms of a strike rate, he’s struggled to get wins on the board.
Fiddlerontheroof’s Big Race Wins Up Until 2022
Running in big races, and winning in them, are two different things, and that really separates the career of Fiddlerontheroof so far. He’s always contested good races and finished behind some very strong horses, some of the best in training, but in terms of big wins, he’s never really delivered on that stage.
The biggest win of his career was when Fiddlerontheroof landed the Tolworth Hurdle as a novice hurdler early in his career. The win came in January 2020, and on soft ground, which really suits him, he was a six-length winner of the Grade One event.
He’s won at Listed level since, at Carlisle in October 2021, but so far, he has been unable to add another big chase win to his name.
