Grangeclare West Grand National Wins
Grangeclare West has never won the Grand National.
Their best finish to date was in 2025 where they came 3rd. They were ridden by Brian Hayes and trained by Willie Mullins.

A class act from a very young age, Grangeclare West would compete at the highest level from a very early stage in his career.
The horse doesn’t scream being a Grand National contender looking at his profile, but on the track in 2025, showed that he was able to stay the distance and go close.
His first effort at Aintree saw him finish 3rd in the 2025 race, completing a 1-2-3 for his trainer Willie Mullins, with Nick Rockett win the race, and I Am Maximus, 2024 winner, finishing second.

Grangeclare West’s Early Years

Kicking off his career under rules, Grangeclare West would run in a national hunt flat race at Punchestown, which he would win by nine lengths, before being put away for the summer.
Coming back after that, he went over hurdles and won on debut before going up in grade, where he would win one more race. Then fences would come next, and this is definitely where he began to really show his class.
He won on debut and followed that up with a win at Grade One level, winning at Leopardstown in the 2023 Christmas Festival. Injury stopped his progress after that, he would have to stay off the track for a year but did come back.
Further Grade One races came, he was second behind Galopin Des Champs in the Irish Gold Cup in February 2025, signalling that he retained plenty of his ability.
Before going to the Grand National, he never ran over more than three miles, and there was a question mark over whether he’d stay or not. He actually had plenty of good form over two and a half miles, but when competing at Aintree, he did manage to stay the trip and get home, the quick ground may have helped him with that.
