Jerry M Grand National Wins
- 1912 - ridden by Ernest Piggott trained by Robert Gore

A strong front running performance from Jerry M in 1912 would land him the Grand National, and live up to the expectations of the public. He would go close in 1910, finishing second, and made amends for that narrow loss here.
He was well fancied on the back of that run, he was sent off as the 4/1 joint favourite for this race and delivered in style for the punters that had followed him, remembering what he did in the 1910 race.
Trained by Robert Gore, this was a trainer who would target the race quite a lot around this time, and this would be his first winner in the contest, he would follow up with another in 1913, this time with Covertcoat.
It was also a double for owner Sir Charles Assheton-Smith, who owned this runner, plus the 1913 winner, so he had a great 12 months here in the sport. They would give him his second and third wins in the race overall.
As for the win itself, Jerry M would land the race with a front running performance, aided by some excellent jumping. He set a good pace in the race, and that forced some to fall away, unable to maintain the pace.
He did have some challengers in the end but kept finding more and maintained his margin all the way to the line. It was a time when the Grand National was really gaining popularity with the public, and this bold front running performance certainly aided that, he was a delight to watch for fans.
