Adam Wedge GN jockey 2023Jockey Adam Wedge burst onto the racing scene in 2020 when landing a huge race win at Cheltenham, but before that, for those in the sport, he had already been making waves. Finding his feet at a young age, since then, Wedge has gone from strength to strength, and the only thing missing now is regular success at a high level.

A partnership with Evan Williams, at a time when the trainer was really going places, was the great opening that Wedge needed to start making waves on the national hunt circuit. But it was in 2020, at the Cheltenham Festival when Wedge really shot to fame. He won one of the Championship races at the meeting, the Stayers Hurdle, and he did so at a huge price for trainer Rebecca Curtis.

The winning horse was Lisnagar Oscar, and the winning price was 50/1, landing a few nice bets for people associated with the horse, as well as those who like to back outsiders at the festival. It was a great ride from Wedge, taking the race on and using the staying power that his mount had shown throughout his career to get the big win.

In terms of other Grade One wins at the Cheltenham Festival and other places, there has been nothing yet for Wedge, and his Aintree Grand National start was not a very good one. It is a race that is yet to give him success and one he failed to complete in his first five rides.

He had the unfortunate pleasure of riding in his first five Grand National races between the years of 2013 and 2022 and failed to even get around in those races. From falls and being unseated to pulling up runners in the very early stages, this has not been a good race for him so far.
