Freddie Gingell Grand National Wins
Freddie Gingell has never won the Grand National.
They have never finished the race.
Born in 2005, Freddie Gingell would emerge quickly as a jockey, getting plenty of achievements on the board as a teenager.
One of these would be riding in the Grand National, something he would do in the year 2025, before his 20th birthday that year.
If the early career accolades are anything to go by for this jockey, then there’s no doubt he will be heading to the top of the sport in a short while.

Freddie Gingell’s Early Career
Gingell is from a racing family, despite it not being a name you may recognise too much.
He is the Grandson of Colin Tizzard, a successful trainer, and his uncle is Joe Tizzard, a former successful rider, now a man who has taken over the training in Colin’s yard.
From a young age, we saw Gingell in action, and not only that, but he quickly impressed. He would secure his first rules win at just 16 years old, winning at Wincanton in February 2022 in a Hunter Chase contest on board West Approach.
He paid tribute to his mum when winning the race, a woman who was there for the early part of his childhood but sadly passed away in 2020.
Success would keep coming. His next milestone came in January 2024, when he steered Elixir De Nutz to victory, landing his first Grade One success. It was in the Clarence House Chase, run at Cheltenham that year, a big race success, if Gingell needed another reason to be put on the horse racing map.
During the 2024/24 season, he would become Champion Conditional Jockey, riding a total of 39 winners. These were evenly split between his uncle Joe and Paul Nicholls, so Gingell had already associated himself with two of the biggest yards in racing.
At the end of that season, Gingell would make his Aintree Grand National debut, teaming up with Nicholls in this particular race to ride Hitman, one of his contenders. Unfortunately, the pair failed to complete the course, pulling up at the 25th fence, but that was just the first attempt of what will no doubt be many at this big race, and big races, for this young, talented rider.
