Kieren Buckley has made a name for himself in Ireland, riding out and in races for a number of smaller trainers on the circuit. Limited opportunities with bigger names have given him a chance to shine on a slightly bigger stage, and in 2023, Noel Meade gave Buckley his first chance to ride in the Grand National.
Diol Ker was the horse that Buckley rode, but it is fair to say things did not go to plan and ended very quickly for them. In the first attempt at the Grand National for both rider and horse, Buckley was unseated at the first fence as the horse fell, ending their race.
Kieren will be hoping for a lot more luck in this race in the future.
