The winner of the Grand National in 1907 was Eremon, who would successfully take the race by a winning distance of six lengths.
Brought home with an SP of 8/1, he was well-fancied by punters on the day and repaid their faith in him by picking up the win.
The race saw 23 horses run, and eight of them were able to complete the course and cross the finishing line. Going on the day was described as good.
The winner, Eremon, was having his one and only start in the Grand National when taking this contest, he had no previous experience, and he did not come back to try and defend his title.
The winning trainer was Tom Coulthwaite, who had tried to win the race earlier in his career and got close with Ranunculus two years prior but finally landed the win here.
This would be the first of three career wins for Coulthwaite in the race, and he had runners across a 31-year period, so he clearly spent a lot of time and effort trying to succeed at Aintree.
Other winners for him would follow in 1910 with Jenkinstown and 1931 with Grakle.
Alf Newey was the winning jockey, and this would be his only Grand National career success. He did come close to winning others, three times he placed, aside from this win, but he was not able to get over the line first again.
Ascetic’s Silver was amongst the favourites, trying to defend his crown from 12 months earlier, but could only finish 6th.
