2024 Grand National
With Rachael Blackmore in his saddle, Minella Indo was going to have a really good crack at the race. Rachael knows the course, this being her 6th consecutive year racing (except for 2020 COVID-19 year). Slightly longer starting price odds of 28/1 given for Minella Indo, considering his form during the previous races in the 2023 – 2024 season.
Minella Indo really hugged the leader crowd for the duration of the steady and fairly slow at time race. Nothing to report in terms of mistakes at jumps, with the adjustments to the fences to enable greater safety for horses possible helping matters. Rachel clearly put him at ease to help with his focus and drive to stay firmly in the pack. After the last jump into the final furlong Minella Indo surged and gave punters great hope for the win, but took third place very close behind Delta Work. Minella Indo and Rachael Blackmore had a great race, the horse travelled exceptionally well. 2025 looks to be an interesting ride.
