Mister Coffey Grand National Wins
Mister Coffey has never won the Grand National.
Their best finish to date was in 2023 where they came 8th. They were ridden by Nico de Boinville and trained by Nicky Henderson.
Trained by Nicky Henderson, Mister Coffey has developed into a staying chaser that appears to relish the test of an extreme distance in his race. This French-bred runner initially began his career with Harry Whittington but was transferred to Nicky Henderson after his first start, which was a wide-margin win.
His love of long distances would eventually lead the horse to make his Grand National debut in 2023, where he would run in the race as a novice chaser. Foaled in 2015, the horse would be in with a great chance of winning the Grand National until the closing stages of the race, when he would fade away, finishing eighth after just failing to get home over the four miles and two furlongs distance.

Mister Coffey’s Early Years
The racing career of Mister Coffey started with a bang, as he would rack up three wins from his first four starts. The first of those was a debut win in a national hunt flat race, which came in April 2019 at Huntingdon.
The horse was odds on for his debut, so clearly well fancied, and he lived up to his starting price by winning the race in impressive fashion by eight lengths. That would be the only time he would run in a flat race, as the following year, he was sent straight over hurdles.
At Newbury in December 2019, Mister Coffey made his hurdling debut, and just like his first start, he would win again, landing an introductory hurdle by just under two lengths. He was second at odds on after that before winning a handicap by five lengths in really good style.
He would move up in grade after this, running in listed handicaps and grade three handicaps, but was unable to get a win on the board in that company over hurdles.
He would go chasing the following season but struggled to get a win on the board during his novice season, running well in some good races but not getting his head in front.
Mister Coffey’s Big Race Wins
Mister Coffey is yet to win a big race during his career, despite plenty of decent efforts in good contests, including at graded level.
The horse has shown enough promise, and a liking for longer distances over fences, so it will be interesting to see which path he takes, one that is likely to lead him to the Grand National again in future years.
